We are proud to offer IADC WellSharp® well control training programs that are globally recognized and accredited. Our consultancy delivers comprehensive training covering both surface and subsea well control for drilling and well servicing operations. Awareness Training

Introductory, Non-Certified

This level provides a basic understanding of the oil and gas industry, drilling processes, and fundamental well control concepts. Ideal for personnel with no operational responsibility but require awareness of well control to support their role.

Purpose

Foundation knowledge for new hires and support staff entering the oil and gas industry, preparing them for potential operational roles.

Who Can Join

New Hires Administrative Staff Support Staff Students

Scope After Completion

Supports career readiness for entry-level rig positions such as Roustabout or support crew and prepares candidates for Level 2 WellSharp® Introductory training.

Well Control Fundamentals

Introduces personnel to the core principles of well control, preparing them for safe operational participation under supervision. Focuses on fundamental knowledge and basic crew responsibilities.

Purpose

Provides essential well control knowledge for operational crew members working under supervision in drilling and servicing operations.

Entry Requirements

Basic literacy and numeracy skills. Completion of Level 1 recommended but not mandatory.

Course Content

  • Kick detection and warning signs
  • Causes of kicks and blowouts
  • Shut-in procedures and crew responsibilities
  • Introduction to well control equipment
  • Basic pressure concepts and well kill methods

Operational Well Control

Trains drillers and operational crew in applying well control techniques during active drilling operations. Focuses on practical skills, equipment handling, and emergency procedures with hands-on simulator training.

Purpose

Advanced operational training for drillers and experienced crew members who directly manage well control equipment and procedures during drilling operations.

Entry Requirements

Completion of Level 2 or equivalent operational experience. Familiarity with drilling operations and rig equipment.

Course Content

  • Advanced kick detection methods
  • Shut-in and well kill procedures
  • Detailed equipment operation (BOP, choke, kill lines)
  • Well control simulators for practical drills
  • Calculations: kill sheets, hydrostatic pressure, MAASP
  • Emergency response coordination

Entry Requirements

Completion of Level 3 or equivalent supervisory experience. Strong understanding of drilling operations and well control procedures.
